Laboratory of Navigational Satellite Technology


The scientific-didactic laboratory is designed for research and analyses connected with the use of navigational satellite systems in aviation. It is based on receivers capable of establishing positions with the use of navigational satellite systems : GPS and GLONASS. The laboratory is equipped with navigational satellite systems receivers of popular companies such as Garmin, KLN and Trimble which are used on aircraft. They provide an opportunity to conduct research that test the receivers as concerns the quality of navigation information “provided” to users on the basis of the signals received from the satellites orbiting the Earth. The laboratory is also
a primary didactic base used in practical training of the users of navigational satellite receivers enabling to perform specified practical classes and training according to their aviation specialization.

 

Laboratory of Satellite Navigation GNSS

The laboratory is designed for continual research and analyses which aim at determining navigational parameters specifying the quality of GNSS positioning, especially positioning with the use of EGNOS system in local conditions.
The main objective of the conducted research is to provide support for applications directly connected with air transport safety.
Laboratory of satellite navigation is also a local (for Lublin region) station monitoring the operation of GNSS navigation services. Information on the quality of GNSS navigation service, its accuracy, availability and reliability within the airport area should be available for all users of navigational satellite systems including aviation, public order services (police, firefighters, city guard, etc.), rescue services.

 

Laboratory of GNSS signals simulation and tele transmission of navigation data is responsible for:

  •  conducting research on generation of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) signals, analyses of navigation scenarios under dynamic conditions, susceptibility of navigational satellite receivers to jamming and spoofing, receivers’ accuracy in satellite positioning, time assigning for the receivers of satellite positioning (TTFF), algorithm and applications programming in navigation and tele transmission devices.
  • sharing knowledge and practical skills among the students of the University;
  • defining research capabilities and developing the University students’ interests;
  • professional and scientific qualification improvement of didactic, scientific and didactic staff of the University.

 

Laboratory of Aviation Meteorology

The main task of the laboratory is to enable the Institute of Navigation and the Faculty of Aviation staff as well as graduates in: Navigation or Aviation and Aeronautics to conduct applied research in meteorology used in civil and military aviation. The laboratory also conducts didactic classes in Navigation, Aviation and Aeronautics as well as meteorology classes during improvement courses for professional soldiers.

 

GEOLAB Laboratory of Geo-information

The laboratory allows the Institute of Navigation and Faculty of Aviation staff as well as their graduates to perform research within the scope of imaging geo-information as well as aviation and satellite remote sensing used in civil and military aviation. The laboratory conducts didactic classes and research with participation of students on a regular basis.
The responsibility of laboratory includes:
• sharing knowledge and practical skills with the University students in the Geographical Information Systems, Imaging Identification and Satellite Remote Sensing;
• defining research capabilities and developing University students’ interests;
• professional and scientific qualification improvement of didactic, scientific and didactic staff of the University.

 

Laboratory of Air Traffic (AT) Control System for Dispatches Exchange

The laboratory consists of 8 terminals CADAS ATS and is designed for conducting practical classes with civilian and military students as well as participants of the course: airspace management and its use and flights planning.
MIL-AMHS-PL system allows creating, sending and receiving ATS dispatches related with flights planning and along airspace use including also emergency dispatches.
