ELC courses are taught entirely in English/French/Russian and aim to improve students’ communication skills in both military and civilian contexts.  Lessons are highly-engaging and predominantly task-based.  Courses are very intensive and their duration varies depending upon the complexity of the language being taught.

Our courses include the following elements:  listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, military/professional vocabulary, task-based language learning, assessments 

Established in 2015, English for Specific Purposes Centre of Excellence caters to the specific language needs of both students of the university and the Air Force personnel providing bespoke language courses:

 

Aviation English for Pilots and ATCs - designed to provide knowledge and language expertise to ATCs and pilots and prepare them for ICAO level 4 operational standard exam. The course is suitable for both experienced and novice ATCOs and pilots who need to expand their base of aviation English and can be taken as a whole of 120 hours or as a conversational skills  30-hour course.

 

Technical English courses for Aircraft Engineers and Maintainers -  intended for  use by aircraft maintenance engineers and technicians, maintenance officers and others. The course is designed to provide students with English language skills to enable them to pursue technical and professional training. The course integrates language and aircraft maintenance content so that students can develop language proficiency while simultaneously exploring subject matter relevant to their professional arena. The course is suitable for both experienced and novice maintainers who need to expand their base of technical English and can be taken as a whole of 210 hours or as a course on a  30-hour separate module.

 

English for Security Personnel -  intended for AVSEC personnel use. It is designed to provide students with English language skills to enable them to pursue further professional training and process documents in their work. The course integrates language and security-related content so that students can develop language proficiency while simultaneously exploring subject matter relevant to their professional arena. The course is suitable for both experienced professionals who already work in the industry as well as security students who need to expand their base of  English related to security industry.

 

English for Aviation Logistics -  intended for aviation logisticians use. It is designed to provide students with English Language skills to enable them to pursue further professional training and process. The course integrates language and logistics-related content so that students can develop language proficiency while simultaneously exploring subject matter relevant to their professional arena.
The course is suitable for both experienced professionals who already work in the industry as well as Logistics students who need to expand their base of technical English.
